View Full Version : OOC Narnia: Rise of the Telmarines OOC

Nearly 1,000 years after the White Witch was defeated by Aslan, Narnia faced a new threat. Humans from Telmar invaded the lands of Narnia and battled against the native Narnians in the land. Many Narnians were killed at the hands of the self-proclaimed king of the Telmarines, King Caspian I, and his armies. Many other Narnians were forced into hiding to escape the slaughter.

This is the setting for this RP. The Telmarines are establishing their dominance in Narnia, while those Narnians that remain fight for their survival. Narnians loyal to Aslan call out to him for help. Narnians loyal to the White Witch look for a way to bring her back so that she might rescue them. The Telmarines look to their own steel to rid the land of all Narnians.

Players can be part of any of the three main factions. The Telmarines, the Narnians loyal to Aslan, or the Narnians loyal to the White Witch. All Telmarines are human, while the Narnians are of a wide variety of mythological creatures and talking animals. The "evil" creatures would typically follow the White Witch, while the "good" creatures would typically follow Aslan.

Cool deal. :)

I had an insane weekend. Two days I was supposed to go to Palo Alto to pick up my wife's car from Stanford, and both days failed to accomplish the set task. Palo Alto is about a two hour drive, one-way, for me as well. At least I didn't actually start the drive there yesterday, like I did on Saturday.

I have slightly modified the Disney map from Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe to reflect the land of Narnia at the time of this RP. The Town of Beruna is currently the only Telmarine town, in which the King, King Caspian I, resides.

Cair Paravel was destroyed at the beginning of the invasion, and is in ruins.

The White Witch's palace has been home to many of the White Witch's followers over the years, and is still in decent shape.

Aslan's How is a temple-like structure built on top of the stone table. Aslan's followers can be found here.

Both Aslan's followers and those still loyal to the White Witch can be found in the various woods across Narnia.

BTW, I'm waiting for others to see how they create their characters before I do because I don't know Narnia that well...

Jason Sanborn

That's ok. Here's a brief overview to help you decide.

It is a typical fantasy setting with a wide variety of creatures, as linked previously.

The White Witch is an evil witch who brought the hundred years of winter. She and her followers were defeated by Aslan and the "Kings and Queens of Old" 1,000 years ago. There are Narnians loyal to her. They tend to be more of the "evil" creatures (such as Minotaurs, Cyclopses, etc).

Aslan is the god and creator of Narnia. He has followers loyal to him, which tend to be the "good" creatures (such as the fauns, nymphs, etc). "The Kings and Queens of Old" fought along side Aslan and defeated the White Witch and her followers. Aslan killed the White Witch during the fight.

The followers of the White Witch are still at odds with the followers of Aslan, and there has been much fighting among the two sides since the Kings and Queens of Old had left Narnia. When the humans arrived, they also fought against the Narnians and defeated them. This leads to our current situation, where the Narnians are pretty much in hiding, but still loyal to either the White Witch or Aslan. They won't trust those who are serving the other side, nor do they trust the humans, while the humans are just bent on controlling all of Narnia, which means complete destruction of the Narnians. These, of course, are all generalizations and stereotypes, and not every human or creature will fall neatly into this mold, although most will.

I guess it comes down to choosing a side, then choosing a race, and finally choosing a personality that would either be in agreement or in conflict with your chosen side. :whaat:

I added a Bio for Caspian the Conqueror / King Caspian I. He is primarily an NPC, but I wanted his bio available in case he is needed at any point in the story, and to give more depth to the situation. ;)

In case you were unaware, there is a bio thread ready, and if you have characters ready, you can post them there. :)

I'm going to do a couple opening posts for events that surround the coronation (Jan 1, 2000). The actual RP will start three months after the coronation, in the spring of the same year. Once I get the opening posts done, I'll let you know here, so you can do opening posts for your characters. :)

Jason Sanborn
02-12-2009, 02:13 PM
Okay, I've finished the "Prologue" (so to speak) ;)

You can introduce your character when you are ready. Just remember, the RP itself will start in spring, not winter, so it is three months after the coronation and massacre of Beruna. Hope this helps get the story rolling. :D

Oh, and fighting against the Telmarines is possible, as is fighting against followers of Jadis, but the idea is more that the Narnians are struggling to stay alive, not necessarily fighting against impossible odds. The whole idea of my intro posts was to show the evil of Caspian and the desperate situation of the Narnians.

Well, Elmus is a fawn who's love is still in her tree, so he won't be vying for Mariah's attention. ;)

Also, I see Elmus as sort of the "worship leader" who will try to bring joy in the darkness to himself and others through his musical abilities. :whaat:

Thanks everyone.

Looks like I'll be at work tomorrow, then will head down to So. Cal. on Wednesday. We'll be leaving at around 8am, because the viewing is Wednesday evening between 4pm and 8pm. It is typically about a seven hour drive, but we've had some rain, which may delay things, and we'll be going through Los Angeles at the time of rush hour traffic, which will be insane. Funeral is early Thursday morning. We have to be at the church at 8am, and from my parent's house (where we'll be staying) it is normally just under an hour, but we'll have the morning rush-hour traffic (again) so we'll have to leave at 6am. We'll head back home on Sunday so I can return to work next Monday.

We got down here safely and made it to the viewing. Now we are at my parent's house. We have to get up early tomorrow morning. I kinda freaked out when I got to my parent's house this evening, when I realized I left my suit at home. It was 7:30 in the evening, and I didn't know what to do. Just after 8pm, I went to KMart and got a shirt and tie on sale, a pair of shoes, and a pair of slacks. I have a nice black leather jacket that I'll use in place of a coat. So, it was just under $80 for the clothes that I wouldn't have had to spend if I had just REMEMBERED to bring the suit.

Praise the Lord that I was able to find what I needed at the last minute, and the shirt and tie was even 50% off. Now, I'm off to bed, as I have to be up at 5:30 tomorrow morning.

Well, headache went away this morning and now work is the figurative headache. :whaat:

Got into work, and almost immediately was on a four-hour long training conference call to learn about how to develop for the Microsoft CRM. I'm going to be the lead developer as we migrate our current CRM to the new Microsoft CRM, so it would be good to know what I'm doing. Once that was done, I went to lunch. When I got back from lunch, I went through all the emails from my couple days that I missed due to the funeral. Now, I have a couple minute break before running off to yet another meeting. The rest of my week looks pretty similar. :ermm:
