The harddrive wasn’t failing, as I had originally suspected. The IT department ran a check during the night (between 1am and 5am EST) to check the status of the drive. The disk check did complete and corrected a number of data related corruption and inconsistencies. This should resolve our problems and restore the stability to the server and the site.
Over the past few days, there have been increasing problems on the site. Difficulty loading pages and unusual database errors. I have determined that the cause for these errors seems to be that the server harddrive is failing. I have put in a ticket with the company that I rent the server from to get a new harddrive installed. As a result, the site may be going down for a period of time while the data is backed up and migrated to the new drive. I apologize for the short notice and inconvenience.
