Here’s a useful tool for authors and roleplayers. It will generate three random town names to choose from. And if you don’t like any of them, you can hit refresh and get three more.  There’s also a tool for generating Non Playing Characters.

If anyone hasn’t read Black, Red, and White by Ted Dekker, you should rush out and buy them and read them. These are excellent books. In them Thomas Hunter is alive in our present day. But when he sleeps he is on another world. A world set far in the future but in a Medieval setting. Something has happened in the time between that caused this. He tries to find out by searching for the cause in the future world. While in the present fights against a terrorist threatening to wipe out humanity with a new virus.

This is a great Trilogy and there is more book set in this setting. The Lost Books and the Paradise Books. You can see the books over to the right in the I recommend box from Amazon.

DragonLance book: Dragons of the Hourglass Mage might be published

  • If all goes according to plan, Dragons of the Hourglass Mage will be released in the summer of 2009.

I guess I can call off my boycott of every thing Hasbro now. Since Raistlin is my favorite fantasy character and they had the nerve to announce this book back in 2006 and then pull this cancellation garbage.

I used to roleplay a character I created that was based on Raistlin. Originally the roleplaying was at Crossgen Comics’s messageboard. But they went out of business so it moved to Comic Book Review but CBR never became popular and the site renamed to quarrels and quills.

My character had a twin brother, Qwaring, who was good with gadgets and was controlled by a genius. He still roleplays at Q&Q; and is drawing a comic based on the roleplaying we did.

Our character names were based on the user names we used to sign up with. Mine originally was glcjr because I used my initials. But when Crossgen changed their messageboard and we all had to re-register, I changed my name.

It was fun but time consuming and I don’t have a lot of spare time anymore so it had to end.

  • The reason the ministry leader is against the material is obvious given the presence of magical characters (witches, wizards, ghosts, goblins, werewolves, poltergeists and so on) in the Harry Potter stories.

I have never read Harry Potter; however I like DragonLance novels and they have wizards, ghosts, goblins, ect… so his criticism of Harry Potter also effects DL.

  • Instead of “Harry Potter,” Colson recommends parents to introduce other fantasy books such as “The Chronicles of Narnia” and “The Lord of the Rings,” because they have more of a Christian framework.

Um… what about Gandolph? He’s a wizard. And Soleyman, the evil wizard? Seems more like someone’s wanting a double standard.

Well Raistlin is my favorite fictional character of all time so I’m going to have to disagree and continue to read my Dragonlance novels.
