Add me to the bandwagon. I liked Ruse thus far. But Sigil, which I really liked from the old CG, I am very disappointed with the remake. But what can you expect from Marvel these day anyway. One of the reasons I rarely pick up their titles anymore, because they screw up everything in the name of the all mighty dollar!

Yes Marvel, I think you suck! Which is why I am more of a DC fan now!

I'm also a big DC fan, always was. The original CG was born at a time when both DC and Marvel were in one of their lowest points in their creative ends. Which was good for CG and the reason why I jumped wagon at the moment.

Now, the promise of bringing back CG is fading away slowly. This imprint won't last long and the sad part is that no one will notice when it stops publishing.

I still hope that Marvel might be smart and manage to recapture what made CG so great, but it's a hope without holding my breath. I've learned my lesson that it's only about the money and that's what executives care about. Once you fall in love with a story, it's really difficult to see someone come in and totally redo what you fell in love with and still feel connected. Sigil......it's not Sigil and from what I'm seeing and reading about Mystic it's the same story. My opinion, why bother with the title when it's not the same? Contrary to what people might think, revamping and reinventing is not always a good idea.

Marvel lost my loyalty as a reader a long time ago. I only pick up titles from recommendations from friends when a good story is being told, but even then I've invested more into DC and other titles. I've pretty well always been a "positive" thinker but I believe that Marvel will never do justice to the magic that CG created in the beginning, the stories will never be as good, the art work will never do the old titles justice. That chemistry is just gone. And the other thing, Marvel's CEO "He who must not be named" is one of those that if he doesn't like a character or something in a book, things happen.....so thus my skepticism.

I was really hopeful to see CrossGen back, but none of what I liked is there, so I’m better moving on. I was so excited to see that they were bringing it back, but they “re-imagined” it in order to attract a wider audience but they did it in a way that has no soul and simply lacks the “wow” factor.

I know the original story was too ambitious and that may have been it’s downfall, but it was the big story in the background the one thing that hooked me and made me want more. I even read books established in setting that were not of my liking because I didn’t want to miss a piece of the big picture. “Ruse”, for example, while well written, didn’t attract me that much, but the way it fit into the big storyline made it a must read for me. Same with a lot of other other titles. Now, among my favorites were Sigil, Meridian, The First of course, Mystic and many others. And the new Sigil was such a huge disappointing and the upcoming Mystic is just another Disney story, I mean, the only thing they kept were the names! That’s insulting.

Honestly from the remakes, I think Ruse was the best one. It was true to the original series but I think that's because Mark Waid was on it and Marvel didn't "re-imagine" it. I was excited about the reboots but at this rate I'm starting to think I'd rather Sojourn not be remade (although I'd still buy it if it was).

I know we haven't been super thrilled with what Marvel's done with Crossgen but I thought I'd still post the news about the two new series coming:

    Kiss Kiss Bang Bang

    Route 666

It's good they're releasing more (Kiss Kiss Bang Bang surprises me, never thought that'd come back). I think Ruse was has been the best mini series because it had the original writer and stayed pretty true to the original series.

They're just publishing these books to keep the rights over the names. Ruse was the only one to stay true to the original story, the rest could have been named whatever came up to mind, but the used the CG names just to keep the properties.

I was so excited when the first news about this relaunch hit the web and now, just so deeply disappointed

The quick read over I did on the KKBB artical at least sounds interesting. It is not the old one by a long shot (note the lack of fem fatales) but it is a good concept. Worth enough for me to look over the issues. The writer for me is very hit or miss though.

Route 666 again looks like a fairly new creautre but still interesting. It seems to follow similer lines as the original. Historic setting, psychic girl, supernatural undertones. In this case, the writer has generally entertained me.

I need to sit down an read over Ruse and Sigil. And find a digital copy of Ruse 2. Was the only one the comic shop didn't have.

Lord Mattson, LM, Matts, its all the same.
