I managed to get a copy this past evening and I found it worth the wait. For those who are fans of the 80's Titans either all along or due to interest from the animated, this is a very nice farewell from the men who helped define them. For those who are Perez fans due to Solus, this is another wonderfully detailed work from the master. For those who are strangers to that, this is good solid spy games done with a superhero twist.

The plot has been reworked in the time since it was first conceived back in '88 but it works quite well. However, it still feels like you're back in the 'classic' Titans era and I'm sure with a bit of rereading I could tell you where it was planned to take place. Perez manages to tell several stories at once, hit some impressive emotional buttons, and make the tale relevent to the present (the how there is spoiler territory). He even finally succeeds in making Danny Chase not a total jerk. When I read the Wolfman Titans run, I never hated Danny but I could see why he was disliked. We also get a nice little Raven tale in the midst of events and Cyborg sits at the emotional center.

Perez remains one of the most detailed artists I've ever had the pleasure of reading. From rich drawings of the city to giant robots to dragon-trains (yes and it works in context), the man continues to prove that he can draw anything, even the dated costumes of the 80s Titans.

In the end, if this is truely their swan song, and I've heard rumors that Wolfman has the ideas for a sequel in his head, then its a worthy one. Certainly a better end then Marv's Titans went out on.
