    Breena Edwards

Breena Edwards was a former courtesan in Viktor's Coven. When the community came to take out the Coven, she ran. She wasn't going to die for Morris or anyone else. Topaz had been a fool, exposing them to the mortal world with her "game". It started all this mess on the news. Breena missed the life she once had and she hated doing what she felt she needed to do to survive. She had a small group of former courtesans with her, she had taken the role of leader for them to survive in a world where humans knew about them. It wasn't until she had heard that bastard Zsigmond Nagy say on the news that the government was going to do searches and force people into the sunlight that she made them come here. Well she wasn't about to die but unlike the Vampires of New Haven, she and her small group wouldn't survive being forced into the sun. That's why, in the middle of the night, they were in the country looking for the house a Pack of Lycans called a home. A decision she knew didn't sit well with her people. Most were quiet about it but Ariel never could keep her mouth shut.

What makes you think that they'll even listen, Breena? The humans aren't after them.

Not yet but Gaston Legrant isn't a fool. He'll realize that eventually they'll discover his species and that for us to all survive, we need to work together.

    I still don't think he'll-

Just let me do the talking.

Breena hissed Ariel and the younger Vampire finally shut up. The other Vampires with them turned their noses up at the "house", it looked rundown and a place that suited Lycans. Breena wanted to survive more then anything even if meant making an alliance with their enemies. Vampires and Lycans working together seemed to be working for those do-gooders of New Haven. She held her chin up when the Lycan who answered the door growled at her. She told him that she demanded to see his Alpha. The male was about to refuse until she pointed her gun that was filled with silver nitrate at his chest. She wasn't a fool and knew she couldn't just walk in here without some protection. He muttered she was a bitch as he led her to see Gaston, Breena just grinned at hearing that.

    Gaston Legrant

Gaston Legrant and his Pack weren't nice Lycans by anyone's standards. If humans knew about them then the Pack would definitely fit all their fears about what Lycans could be. They were cruel and took what they wanted, when they wanted. Gaston growled when he smelled that Bloods were in his home. He hated Vampires, they were ruining all his Pack's fun since humans were on high alert about everything now.

    Why are they here?!

He demanded and the Beta male bowed his head.

The Blood bitch demanded to speak with you...She has a gun.

He muttered and gestured at it with his head. Gaston saw that Breena did indeed come prepared. He turned to Breena and said.

So, what is you want Blood?

Well Gaston didn't just have his Pack kill them, that was a good sign, Breena thought. When Gaston yelled at the Beta, the other Pack members came to see what was going. Her own small Coven was uneasy. Not too many of them had ever been in a fight. They had lived pampered little lives until the Coven was destroyed. If she hadn't pulled them together, most of them would have probably be dead already.

Actually it's Breena and I'm here because I'm sure you've seen the news. Humans know about us. They're going to try to kill us all. We need put aside our differences and work together to survive.

    '

Actually humans know about you, not us. The superior species.

Gaston replied to Breena with a sneer. He had no love for Vampires but he also wasn't totally naive. He could control his own Pack but not other Lycans in the world. Eventually some idiot was going to expose them just like those idiot Bloods exposed the immortal world.

And even if they did know about us, we can't take them all on. You should know that. Humans are weak but they far outnumber us and we couldn't turn enough to fight back.

Breena's Coven didn't take too kindly that Gaston referred to Lycans as the superior species and she shot them an icy look to shut their mouths. Truthfully Breena felt she was superior to any Lycan as well but she wasn't going to tell Gaston that. They would need the Pack for protection and like any man, dog or not, he would need his ego stroked. She had to make him believe helping Bloods would be in his best interest. He was the Alpha, all she had to do was convince him and the rest of the Pack would fall into line.

You aren't stupid, Gaston. You know damn well some rogue Lycan will expose you to them. It's only a matter of time and then the world's governments will start searching houses and touching people with silver. I'm not proposing we try to take them on directly, that's suicide.

Gaston didn't disagree with Breena that some idiot would expose the Lycan species. He knew it was very possible but he still didn't see the point of working with her. From the way he saw it, she and her Coven were the ones in danger. Breena was trying to appeal to him for protection and he didn't offer protection for anyone unless he got something in return.

    What are you proposing then?

He asked, curious of her grand plan to handle the humans.

Breena could see that she hadn't sold Gaston on the idea of working with her but he was curious and that was good. The more curious he was, the less likely he was to just order their deaths. She smiled at Gaston.

Using children to our advantage. Most humans have the same weakness for children as those bastards in New Haven. They aren't just going to attack a child at first sight. We can use them as distractions, turn them and use them as soldiers. And if a few dies, who cares. There are plenty of children in the world and we can easily replace them.

Breena didn't care at all about kids but she was smart enough to realize most people desired to have children. Cared about them in general. A crying child in the street would stop people in their tracks and a distracted person was an easy kill. And it wasn't hard for her to see that Gaston probably didn't care for kids either. There were no children or females in this Pack.

Gaston rubbed his chin in thought what Breena said. Children could be useful in the war against the humans but she was right in her thought that he didn't care for children. He wasn't going to feed little brats that couldn't provide anything for the Pack. Talking to her was the longest he talked to a woman in general. He used them for sex and was done with them. Although if they got children and they were used the way she was suggesting then they would be useful.

How would we get them? There's lots of orphanages but human police will surely get suspicious if we just take them all.

And they would need to take quite a few children to turn. Some wouldn't survive the change.

It was would be easier to take unwanted children but it would raise suspicious if a group of people started adopting every single child in the orphanages. Plus that would leave a paper trail and they wouldn't want that either.

No, we wouldn't want to involve ourselves in anything official. However, New Haven has many children living there. Some already turned and others are human. We could take their children and use them to protect ourselves from the humans.

Nice idea, except they built themselves a fortress. There's no way to get into that place and take them without being stopped.

Gaston replied to Breena. He liked the idea because taking those kids would be easier. Especially ones that were already immortals. However, he was smart enough to know when he moved his Pack to this area to avoid those people. His Pack stayed under their radar and that's the way he liked it. He had seen that community's home in the past and knew there was no way to storm it.
