The town of Clearwater is one of those small towns where everyone knows everyone else, and your neighbors always know what's going on in your house. Everyone knows which couple is having fights, who is struggling for money, who is fooling around with someone else's spouse, and so on. If you want to know what's going on, all you have to do is hang around after the Sunday service and pay attention to what the older ladies are saying - it is that kind of town.

With such a small and tight-knit community, it's no surprise that when a prominent member of the community - the mayor's younger brother - turns up dead, and even worse, murdered, everyone is at a complete loss. Who would want to kill someone in such a small town? Who had done it? And why?

Despite the fact that Mr. Keith Allerton wasn't exactly well regarded - he was a drinker, and was said to spend his time with women he had no intention of marrying -, it was still a huge shock, and now everyone is a suspect.

Notes: The story will start before Keith is murdered and follow the events that led to it and the events after it.
