    The Lost City of Akakor

    The Lost City of Akakor

    Synapsis
When we last left our heroes, Jordon, Jack, Jules, J.D., Patrick and Agatha, they were in the Matto Grasso region of South America, their steam boat chugging faithfully upstream. Having just barely escaped a town rabid for their blood (due mostly to their newest member, Patrick, having killed a man) the members are quite weary and have been on the boat for a few hours. J.D. is still bleeding a little bit from his run in with a tree, Jules' ribs are broken (though he's hiding it from Patrick), Agatha is slightly ... drunk... , Patrick is fishing and Jordon and Jack are conversing. Except for the occassional fish that Patrick is catching, the group is quickly running out of food, the only supplies they have being what they've gathered or stolen from the inn.
The boat trip, except for some crazy locals throwing things at them and some crazy teammates throwing things back (------------> JD.... ----------------->Patrick.... ) has been relatively uneventful.
And now, on with the adventure!

The boat chugged upstream lazily for the better part of the day. Day soon turned to night and, predictably, day again soon after. The boat had several extra stores of gas in the steering house and with only a small mishap in regards to spilled gasoline on the 2nd day, not a drop of gas was wasted and it seemed that there was enough to last for at least 5 days' travel should they not come up on any faster water.
General malaise began to set in on the 2nd day and took root on the 3rd. The 3rd night came upon them and the weary travellers, bored and hungry after eating mostly fish for two days, lay down to rest. The gentlemen were taking watches at the wheel to make sure the boat didn't crash. J.D. was the first.

Julian McKeon had spent most of the day fishing from the stern and doing his best to supplement their rapidly depleting food stores. Of course, the facts that they were all utterly sick of fish by now and that the natives all not only hated the westerners with a passion (and explained that position well by sending any number of stones and arrows their way) but also seemed to have an excellent network of communication to pass along that hatred meant that Jules really had had enough fishing by now and turning in for the night was sounding better and better. Pulling his line back in for the last time that night, he stood up and headed back into the passenger cabin. For the size of the boat having the two small bunk rooms was an absolute luxury. Turning into the room on the left, he plunked down on the hard pallet and eventually did fall off to sleep.

Belial held the world in its tight grip, and he had seen it all come into being. He had released Belial from its unjust imprisonment and had carried out its will in all things, but it needed one last great task from him to be whole. It needed an avatar, something to cement its place in this world so that it could not be banished from it ever again. He would make of himself a vessel for Belial.
He knelt upon a stone floor in what had once been the very tip of Florida. Above him was the likeness of a roc. He knew what it was because a flock of thousands had swept across the world, killing anything in sight. It was the death knell of what had been his world. Carved in what seemed to him must be the largest piece of obsidian ever formed by the fires of the earth, the glassy bird kept watch over the proceedings with turquoise eyes. He could feel Belials presence in the room, guiding his hand. He pulled the same black dagger he had used for so many sacrifices before and brought it up to his heart. As the tip pierced his skin and cut easily through muscle and bone, he felt himself slip between worlds. He was still here, but he could also see the spirits of the dead and Belials own smiling countenance. His heart leapt as he saw for the first time his lord and master. And it was smiling.
And as the dagger slipped through his heart and Belial swept into his body, he felt only bliss as his soul was shattered and he ceased to be.

Sleep was never fitful for Agatha in the jungle. She was a light sleeper and the noises of the jungle at night were not at all condusive to rest. For lack of sleep she had begun to hallucinate earlier in the day and retired early. She was sleeping now, but even in her exhausted sleep, she would awaken at the most modest of sounds, her eyes lazily opening and then closing again when no threat was percieved.
Eventually, her sleep became deep enough that not all the noises woke her and she began to dream of England and of Mr. Bellows and real, honest to goodness food. And tea.

Dr. Jack Smith kept an eye on JD and Julian who were both injured during this escape and Agatha who was a little drunk. He was bored of fish and water. He was figuring if he ever made it back home he would never live by the water. Maybe the desert be a good place to live. No fishes or water there.

Jordan Stall was sleeping sometimes, but was uncomfortable on the boat and did not like hearing the creepy noises. She couldn't sleep at all. She'd give anything for a clean bed and clothes. She would never eat another fish when she got back to America as long as she lived. She wondered if they would ever get to their destination, or just go down the river forever. She missed home and Sarah.

JD on the other hand was pulling steering duty on the boat while the others were fast asleep. It was a bit different for him since he was more used to flying planes or ridng vehicles instead of piloting a boat, though he was getting a bit used to it. He wasn't so much as a natural as he made it a conscious effort to focus on this thing as opposed to thinking about snakes again. Agatha had helped him a bit but all it did was take away some of the edge of the fright, he still had his base fear to make his skin crawl every so often whenever he thought he heard a slither in the distance. But that would turn out to be the least of his worries when he heard a peculiar sound that didn't belong to a snake or the forest for that matter. No, it was much like a small grinding sound from underneath the boat. He thought about whether or not to investigate the matter but it went away as soon as it came. He shook his head and continued about his driving when he heard it again. And then the boat shifted some before it came to a grand crash and halt which flipped JD over to the ground. As he got up from the fall, the first thing he did was smile to himself as he mentally checked off in his mind that he has now crashed a boat...

"The Papaya revolution has been quelled..." Agatha half-muttered, half-yelled as the boat's sudden unexpected movements woke her. She sat up, shook her head and looked around the the room, trying to shake off the ending to a dream that ought not to have happened in the first place.
Wrinkling her nose and noticing that she was wide awake now, she dangled her legs off the bunk and slid onto the floor.
She made her way quietly outside of the bunk house and looked around.
They weren't moving. Odd... Sleepyness hit her again and she yawned. She wasn't as awake as she'd first thought.
"JD?" she asked as she saw him smiling oddly. She rubbed her eyes.

He got up and dusted himself off when he saw Agatha.

"Hello Aggy. Top of the morning to ya. Or is it top of the evening still? I could never get that saying right for some reason."

Agatha looks around. "Why are we stopped?..." she asked, squinting through a yawn. She covered her mouth.
