    Q'guer: OOC

    Q'guer: OOC

I was thinking that after the nameless SL that I've been trying to put together is over I might start up a new RP, if anyone is interested. It would be set in the First RP universe, but wouldn't have First's involved right away. Characters of lesser power, and of course original RP specific characters, will be welcome.
I don't have a lot of the specifics of the environment worked out yet. But there's plenty of time to come up with that stuff.

    Here's the basic back story:
The planet Mguer, 60 years ago. A human world that was socially equal to 1950's Earth, but technologically more advance (by about 10 or 15 years). An explosion of unknown origin obliterates a small farm. The military is sent in to investgate the mysterious event. They find a glowing element of unknown nature. This glowing alien matter shifts from liquid to solid seemingly at random. It gives off a previously unknown energy signature. The military contains the few pounds of alien matter and carts it off to one of their labs for testing.
Years pass and the first government super powered operative is created. After years of studying the alien mass, now called Hex Matter, the military scientists invented a process to inject it into a human and end up giving him incredible powers. The super agent, a man named Rex Connors (unless I come up with a better name) fights for truth, justice, ect, ect. The military continues to study the rest of the Hex Matter, since they don't want to use any more on super soldiers until they can find a way of making or finding more of it.
Three years later, another mysterious explosion occurs over the ocean. The military sends a team to investigate. They find more Hex Matter has appeared in this latest explosion. The military recovers the Hex Matter. With this extra material they are able to create a group of super soldiers.
Ten years later another mysterious explosion deposites more Hex Matter and allows for the creation of more super soldiers. Eleven years after that another explosion. Twelve years after that another.
Fifteen years ago the military has fifty super powered agents and more than enough hex matter to create thousands more. These fifteen are the most powerful beings on the planet. They have strength, endurance, telepathy, flight and the ability to harness the energy that the hex matter is saturated with. Yet they still struggle to maintain order. Despite all of their powers there's still crime, poverty, hunger and a multitude of other global *problems. One day they decide to right all of the worlds wrongs. They steal the militaries supply of Hex Matter and offer the public a chance to become just like them. They devise a method of infusing the Hex Matter into people for a decade and then extracting it after they have developed their powers so that the Hex Matter can be used on someone else. But they only offer this to those that will work with them to build a perfect society.
A civil war breaks out as the government tries to retake the Hex Matter and stop the creation of more super beings. The super soldiers fight back and increase their ranks with those that swear allegence to them. The war lasts for four years before the super being population has expanded to several thousand and the military can no longer fight back. The super soldiers take over the planet and begin to "fix" everything.

Present day, Mguer is a world devided. There are the millions of Hexer's (those with super powers) who live in the highly advanced cities that reach up into the clouds. And then there are the normals, those who were deemed unworthy of receiving a Hex Matter injection for one reason or another (actually the main reason is that there simply isn't enough Hex to transform everyone on the planet). The normals live in the cities beneath the perfect civilization of the Hexers. The Hexers enjoy a world of advanced technology, perfect order and incredible powers. The normals live off of whatever the Hexer society gives them.

That's the basic background story. I'll add more when I develope it. I do have a few story archs, plots and subplots in mind for this.
Here are a few of the character types available:
Hexer Elite: The leaders of the world. These are usually the super soldiers that originally took over the world. They were given powers before the Hex extraction process and so still have some of it in their system, which makes them more powerful than everyone else.
Hexer: Given the Hex Matter injection at age 5, developed powers at age 9, had their powers fully developed at age 13, had the Hex extracted at age 16 and have lived in paradise their entire lives.
Normal: Normal person living in the cities beneath the floating cities of the Hexers.
Normal Rebel: Some of the nonpowered are sick of living under the heel of the Hexers. A small rebellion has begun to form. Get to fight opression, promote anarchy and blow stuff up.
Off worlder: With their advanced sciences the people of Mguer have not only developed interstellar travel but also interstellar communication. Although their isolationist veiws of the interstellar community keeps them from expanding to other worlds the people of Mguer still welcome the occassional off world visitor. (Although in order to prevent the scales of power from being tipped too much Firsts or really powerful characters won't be welcome in the RP for a while)
Synth makers / users / sellers: A group of normals have managed to develope a synthetic version of Hex matter. It's not as powerful and tends to be highly unstable and often damaging to those that use it. Hexer authorities hunt down those that make and sell synth, but the normals need for equality in one form or another makes this underworld buisiness nearly impossible to get rid of.
Whatever else you can think of: Uhm, I think the title says it all.

    What do you think?

Sounds like a good idea to me. Seems like you have a very well thought-out background for the SL.
QC1: From this day forth you shall be called "Sprinkle Berryweather".

Kevin Flynn: The Grid. A digital frontier. I tried to picture clusters of information as they moved through the computer. What did they look like? Ships, motorcycles? Were the circuits like freeways? I kept dreaming of a world I thought I'd never see. And then, one day... ...I got in!

    Interesting plot, Q.

One question: the storyline will begin when the Hexers have already taken over the world, or when the first mysterious explosion happens?

My opinion (and the way it sounds), should be that it happens after the Hexers have taken over.

It takes place in the present. 15 years after the Hexers have taken over the world.
Due to the power of the Negation Talisman Lawbringer QLNZ is now a First.

Okay, I see it. Very Rising Star/Supreme Power. I like it.

I'm not sure if I'd have the time, but I'll keep an eye on it. Most probably I would be joining.

    M
His mate was Twilight, Queen of the Realm of Nightmares.
Now, she's dead, but there's no way to know for sure!

So far M has been the only one to show an interest in possibly joining this. Although between M and myself we could probably RP a thread with at least 30 characters.

I think I'll give this thread some more time. If no one else shows any interest I might just try to figure out another way of using my ideas.

In the meantime I'll add a little more to the concept.

I was thinking that the RP could take place within a single city. Maybe the city could be called Epimethia, unless I, or someone else, can come up with something better.
It would take place during the race for mayor, which is also the first election since the Hexers took over. The Hexer leaders decided to test how stable their society is by holding elections on the local level. Although democracy isn't going to be as kind to the normal population since normal humans only make up 40% of the worlds population and only Hexers are being allowed to run for office. This makes the election a prime candidate for a rebellion target.

Since the rebellion would be likely to hire an assassin I was thinking about using my assassin character, Fetch, for this SL.
Aside from Fetch I'm thinking about tossing in one or two of my already established characters and maybe one or two characters specificly for this SL.

I failed to mention in my earlier posts that I sort of have an over all plot in mind for this SL. It will have a definite story arc. It will mostly deal with the mysterious source of Hex Matter. Once that's revealed, hopefully in a very explosive way , it will probably change the entire world, but not so much as to completely destroy whatever has been built during RPing.

Well, I’m still interested in the storyline, but if Q decides to back down because of lack of quorum that would be okay with me as well.

As for character involvement, I’m thinking about creating someone (still haven’t named him or her), who acts as a nocturnal vigilante. Some mix of Batman and the Punisher, but giving him or her some kind of mental trouble (maybe in line with Watchmen’s Roschard). This vigilante person would be after any Hexer he or she would find, and his/her only direction is to terminate them. This character wouldn’t be affiliated to any rebel group and only sees this coming election as a chance to bring chaos into the Hexer organization.

I also think a nice touch would be to bring into this setting “Wendy, Werewolf Stalker”, that’s if Q approves. She’s in limbo right now and when we made the transition from the old forum, I released her from her old storyline. She’s a parody, everyone knows that, but she could give a light mood to some parts of the storyline.

Now, a final suggestion: everytime I see the title “Planet Mguer”, I see “Planet M” Is there any chance the “M” of the name can be replaced?

    What do you think Q?

    Anybody else interested?

    M

I do like the idea, but haven't given much thought to the character for the world yet. Put me down as interested.

Any suggestions for a new name?
